Mission Statement

IGRAC's vision & mission:

‘'Groundwater is the largest readily available source of freshwater on our planet. Its utilization is of paramount importance for the social and economic development of society.

The International Groundwater Resources Assessment Centre (IGRAC) will contribute to the assessment of the groundwater resources of the world in order to encourage and enhance the conjunctive and sustainable utilisation of both groundwater and surface water and elucidate the impact of groundwater on other ecosystems of the Earth.''

The overall objective of IGRAC is derived from the Mission Statement and reads as follows:

‘'to include groundwater fully in the assessment of freshwater resources of the world in order to encourage and enhance the conjunctive and sustainable utilisation of both groundwater and surface water.''
