Expectations

IGRAC intends to offer the following main services to the Groundwater Community: the Global Groundwater Information System, additional guidelines and protocols for groundwater data acquisition and monitoring, on-line groundwater library, groundwater knowledge map and groundwater resources public awareness material. It is furthermore expected that IGRAC will trigger the formation of Communities of Experts. Such Communities may focus on:

• Sharing state-of-the-art knowledge (new publications, conferences, fieldwork results) in the area of common interest
• Discussing problems and questions posed by fellow members, the general public or potential clients
• Preparing joint research and advisory activities

Facilitating these Communities of Experts is seen as another component in the spectrum of IGRAC's services.

Through the development of a wide range of services for the professional Groundwater Community, IGRAC is likely to provide a significant contribution to better development and management of the world's groundwater resources.
