An IGRAC symposium, celebrating IGRAC's 5th anniversary.
On June 5th 2008, IGRAC will celebrate its 5th anniversary on the top floor of the IJ-Toren building in Amsterdam, with a symposium on ‘Groundwater, A Global Perspective'.
From 13:00 untill 17:30 several distinguished speakers will share their vision on issues such as groundwater and climate change, non-renewable groundwater and the role of groundwater in fulfilling the Millennium Development Goals.
Since its establishment in 2003, IGRAC has taken important steps towards obtaining a global picture on groundwater and positioning groundwater more prominently on the international water agenda. The initiative, taken in 1999 by WMO and UNESCO, proved even more visionary when considering the important role of groundwater in relation to climate change adaptation and obtaining the Millennium Development Goals.
With this symposium, IGRAC hopes to inspire and stimulate the dialogue between internationally renowned experts in our field, as well as to contribute to the ongoing process of improving groundwater management worldwide.
Presentations of all speakers at the symposium will be published on the IGRAC website after June 5th.
