On the 1st of April, IGRAC welcomed Alexandra Urgilez Vinueza as their new Researcher. After obtaining her undergraduate degree at the Universidad de Cuenca (Ecuador) and MSc at the Newcastle University (UK), Alexandra came to The Netherlands for an PhD with the faculty of Civil Engineering at TU Delft. Time to sit down with Alexandra for an interview.
On 10 April 2022, IHE Delft and Movies that Matter organised a screening of the documentary Above Water (original title: Marcher sur l'eau) as part of the Movies that Matter Festival in The Hague. After the screening, a panel discussion was held with IGRAC Director Elisabeth Lictevout as one of the panelist.
Last month, the DEEPWATER-CE project came to an end. This EU-funded project, with a duration of 3 years, aimed for the development of an integrated implementation framework for managed aquifer recharge (MAR) solutions to facilitate the protection of Central European water resources endangered by climate change and user conflict.
IGRAC supported the inventory of hydrogeological maps in Africa, which is accessible in a dedicated section of the Africa Groundwater Atlas. The inventory contains more than 100 maps, at the sub-national, national and regional/continental scale. Links are provided for the maps that are available online.
