Capacity Development Symposium online and with free registration

Following the decision, in these unprecedented times, to move the Capacity Development Symposium online, the organisation has announced that the formal registration fee for the event has been waived. The goal at this time is to provide a dedicated space where the water capacity implementation community can formally and informally meet, exchange ideas and discuss the issues that the world is facing today.

Expert network and live event

Up to 500 conference participants are invited to meet online to discuss issues such as the bridges and barriers to water capacity, the challenges of managing institutional change, managing conflict, using ‘big data’ and options for water financing. While scaling down the ‘live’ content, the Symposium platform will allow all contributors and participants to provide, view and comment on posters, abstracts, presentations and videos before, during and after the event.

During the event itself some keynote speakers will be delivering inspiring insights and available for live and offline Q&A, and the track leads will host a mix of live and offline discussion around the eight key themes. Rescheduling has been done as well, to cater for different time zones. The draft programme has been made available here - to be confirmed.

Contribute to future agenda

All participants will have an opportunity to contribute to the process of providing recommendations on the future agenda for water capacity implementation. We also understand that anyone's agendas are changing day to day. To help here, the platform will help you to organise and promote dedicated discussions of your own. For example, you can:

  • Schedule presentations to solicit feedback (by chat or small discussion groups) from an expert audience
  • Use the symposium social media (#CapDevSymp) to promote your event to other participants
  • Explore the user figures for any sessions or content you host

For anyone who is already contributing to the conference, it is now possible to access the contributor guidelines here.

Register

Participation will be restricted to the first 500 to register for the conference, so you’ll need to move fast. You can register for free - or register and make a contribution here. For any further questions or comments, you can contact the organiser
